Colorado's Practice Model Work Groups

The Colorado Practice Model is an effort to develop a clear, consistent and cohesive approach to practice and service delivery. |

Project Operations and Implementation Team (POIT) – This team is responsible for overall project monitoring, guiding, delegating and coordinating of project activities and work teams. POIT provides leadership, direction and recommends decisions to State Child Welfare Administration regarding the Colorado Practice Model. |
Practice Model Design Work Group – To collaboratively design and develop a Colorado child welfare practice model framework for review and statewide input by state, and county staff and stakeholders (June – September, 2010). |
Communication Work Group – To design, develop, and implement a long-term communication protocol (strategy, media, materials and county engagement plan) that will engage every level of staff (state, county, local and tribal) and stakeholders in learning about and embracing the Colorado Practice Model (March 2010 – September 2015). |
Evaluation Work Group – To collaboratively develop and implement a comprehensive CPM Evaluation Plan that will address both process and outcome measurement and evaluation. The group will be responsible for generating and disseminating timely reports on CPM implementation progress to the other CPM teams. (May 30, 2010 and September 30, 2015). |
Performance Management Work Group – to design develop and implement a performance based management system that specifies child welfare outcomes and goals as the basis for evaluating child welfare services at the county level (integrated with child and family services review measures) by September 30, 2014.

Future CPM Work Groups |
Education Work Group – To identify, design, develop, and provide educational experiences that support all aspects of the practice model at all levels of implementation (customer service, management, supervisory development, worker education and training, evidence-informed and promising practice programs, etc.) (September 2010- September 2015) |
Implementation Work Group – To support implementation of the practice model statewide, beginning with an initial Group of counties and based upon learning and success, continue until completed across the state (October 2010 – September 2015) |
Financial Management Work Group – To develop and operationalize a child welfare allocation model that supports the new practice model by November 2010. |
Rewards and Recognition Work Group – To design, develop and implement recognition and reward system statewide that recognize exceptional performance and outcomes through the new practice model (December 30, 2010 and September 30, 2015). |
Policy, Rules and Procedures Work Group - to review, analyze and recommend changes in legislative policy, rules and/or procedures associated with the new practice model. |
Continuous Quality Improvement Work Group – to implement a continuous quality improvement approach in each child welfare service component of every county department of social services to focus a team of caseworker(s) on identifying, analyzing, and solving problems related to child and family services and outcomes (integrating the program improvement plan outcomes) by September 2011. |
